Some Texas Republicans suggesting that the 14th amendment to the U.S. constitution be repealed are calling children born within the U.S. by illegal immigrants “terror babies.” The 14th amendment grants U.S. citizenship to all persons born on American soil. All of the illegal immigrants coming to America pregnant to have their babies are being paid by taxpayers, says Louie Gohmert, Texas congressman, and Debbie Riddle who is the state representative. Then they take their little U.S. citizens home to be trained as deadly sleeper agents, who return as an adults to attack from within.
Conspiracy surrounding terror babies
All the facts about terror babies were show on CNN by Anderson Cooper. Riddle and Gohmert, Texas republicans, said “former FBI officials” told them all the info on terror babies. Terror babies are the reason why Gohmert would like to change the 14th amendment. Riddle said foreign women are having babies in the U.S. “with the nefarious purpose of turning them into little terrorists, who’ll then come back to the U.S. and do us harm.”
Cooper pressed them to find out that these terror babies probably don’t exist considering no evidence was brought forth. Riddle complained on camera that before the taping not a soul warned her that she would have to come up with actual facts during the interview.
Unlikely to have terrorists like this
Current U.S. laws make the scenario for breeding terrorists unlikely, as outlined by Think Progress. It can be very hard just to get a simple U.S. visa. An officer at the U.S. embassy has to interview these people who’ll provide evidence of their trip purpose, fingerprints and photos. Kids in born within the U.S. to immigrant women are typically only born there because their mother’s purpose in the country is typically to work.
Anchor babies a slow boat to citizenship
Republican senators argue more about “anchor babies” than terror babies saying “birthright citizenship” isn’t really right and that the 14th amendment should be rewritten According to PolitiFact, having a baby in America won’t make you a U.S. citizen any faster than it would have before. It actually takes more than 30 years. Kids aren’t able to sponsor their parents who aren’t citizens unless they are 21 years old. Parents have to be living in their home for 10 years after getting this sponsor before they’ll be allowed to apply to enter the U.S. again.
FBI evidence doesn’t exist}
Cooper interviewed on CNN Tom Fuentes, FBI’s assistant director in international operations from 2004 to 2008, following the terror babies story came out from Gohmert and Riddle. Terror babies don’t exist if you ask Fuentes. Elise Hu of the Texas Tribune made an open-records request for communication between Riddle’s office and former FBI agents. You will find no records.
