Gluten free diet – How to cut out wheat, barley and rye

For some, eating a gluten free diet is a matter of avoiding foods that cause a severe allergic response. For others, a gluten free diet is a way to make an effort to lose pounds. Either way, gluten free foods are becoming more prevalent and easier to find, if nevertheless very costly.

It is estimated that about one in every 133 individuals or so has some level of gluten allergy. A full-on allergy to gluten is referred to as celiac disease. A gluten free diet simply cuts all wheat, barley and rye out of what a person eats. Processed foods, baked goods, and pasta may very well contain wheat or gluten. If you determine to cut gluten out of your eating habits, your least expensive option is to simply cut all wheat, barley and rye out of your diet. It is, in theory, simple to remove wheat from your diet. Stop eating Pop-Tarts, breads, beer, pasta, and all other wheat-containing products. Removing all of this means removing a lot out of your eating habits – but you are able to replace it with fruits and vegetables. Rather than entirely removing gluten from your diet program, you are able to replace it with non-gluten containing foods. Rice and corn products could be used to replace many of the things that have gluten in them.
